Arbutus RV Tech Apprentice Program


Are you looking to start your career? The Arbutus RV Apprentice Program can help set you on a path to becoming a Red Seal RV Tech!

Apprenticeship is a post-secondary pathway consisting of on-the-job training provided by an employer and technical training delivered at a college or vocational school. The training combines alternating periods of on-the-job and technical classroom-based training.

RV service technician technical training spans 8 weeks per year of training. Technical training occurs at VIU in Nanaimo B.C.. While attending technical training Arbutus RV will cover the program cost!

Unlike most trade programs that require a 4-year apprenticeship, the RV service technician apprenticeship program is only three years. Once the apprentice completes the required technical training and on-the-job work experience hours or modules, the apprentice can write the exam for their Red Seal certification. There are many benefits to this form of training including certification, good pay and exciting career opportunities.

We have a rare opportunity for a Warranty Administrator to join our service team. This position is responsible for a wide variety of administrative support tasks, including data entry and database maintenance. It requires processing a large volume of work with accuracy.

Who You Are

You are personable, full of energy and have great listening and communication skills. You love working in a small team environment and have an aptitude for educating others. You are diplomatic, respectful and have the confidence to ask for what is owed. Accurate and detailed describe how you approach everything you do. And if you have an administrative or accounting/bookkeeping background as well, you definitely are the gem that we are looking for.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare and submit warranty claims to manufacturers
  • Communicate with manufacturers on warranty claims
  • Review warranty repair orders for completion, accuracy, and legibility
  • Liaise with the Service Department to ensure all information, including pictures, has been provided and documented in the Dealership Management System (DMS) to ensure warranty work is approved and paid
  • Build relationships with manufacturers to improve claims approval rates
  • Order and track warranty parts
  • Liaise with the Parts Department to ensure/facilitate warranty part returns or credits when required
  • Tracks, appeals, and resubmits claims to ensure timely payment
  • Maintain complete and accurate records and filling system and reconcile claims
  • Keep updated on all manufacturer's warranty policies and procedures
  • Communicate with the Service Department on the status of warranty claims
  • Analyze problems and identify trends to develop strategies for maximizing the claim process
  • Receive warranty parts in DMS
  • Liaise with the Manager or Supervisor to determine daily priorities

  • Ability to build relationships with our manufacturers and internal or external stakeholders
  • Diplomatic demeanour
  • Administrative or accounting/bookkeeping background beneficial
  • RV or construction experience/familiarity is a plus

Health and Safety Considerations

  • Strict adherence to all health and safety policies is necessary
  • Able to lift parts and accessories up to 25 lbs.
  • Bending, lifting, kneeling, reaching
  • Willing to work in a shared office space
  • Able to sit and stand for long periods
  • Able to work comfortably with computer equipment, including monitor, keyboard and mouse
  • Able to deal with customers, vendors, management, and co-workers using calm, effective, and courteous communication.
