Fun with Family!
We received many entries this issue, from families enjoying their toys in the great outdoors. We thank everyone for sharing and look forward to your continued submissions, chronicling your RV’ing adventures!
Each issue we receive many wonderful submissions for our Photo Contest. Many of the photos would have qualified as first prize winners but for one thing – RESOLUTION. Our specifications for first prize photos are worth repeating so that all of you have the opportunity to win an Arbutus RV Firepit or an Outdoor RVQ (each valued at $299) as well as the chance to have your photo featured on a future Island RV Guide cover and on the home page of our newly re-designed website.
RV Lifestyle – Photos should be of you and your family/friends, out enjoying the RV lifestyle.
Format – Ideally, first prize shots will be in a vertical (not horizontal) format.
Resolution – This is a critical element in a first prize winner.
- The first step in creating a high-resolution photo is to set your camera to “super fine” resolution. You may need to adjust your camera’s setting to accomplish this.
- The second step, once you’ve taken a high resolution shot, is loading that photo onto your computer. Some programs may try to reduce the size/resolution of the photo for you – do not let it! Keep the original size.
- The third and final step is submission. If you are asked, when e-mailing your photo(s), “Make picture smaller?”, the answer is no. “Keep original size.” - is the right choice.
How do you know whether your shot is high resolution? Check the file size. This appears in brackets after the photo name/attachment in the e-mail. Your photo should be at least (1MB). So, when you send your photo(s), look at the attachment line. If it looks something like this – DSC03661.jpg (2MB) – great! You may be qualifying for a First Prize.
